DM sets deadline for Bhupatwala-Saptasarovar roads, reprimands contractor

The issue of damaged roads after the sewage work in the Bhupatwala and Saptasarovar areas is now on the administration's radar. District Magistrate Mayur Dixit visited the site to assess the slow pace of road repairs and instructed the concerned officials and contractors to complete the work within the stipulated time.

On Wednesday, the DM conducted a ground inspection of the Old ARTO Chowk, Saptarishi Marg, and surrounding areas. During this inspection, it was found that the repair and restoration work on several sections of the roads excavated for sewage was not progressing at the expected pace. Due to potholes and damaged sections on the road, local residents, traders, vehicle drivers, and pilgrims visiting the area are facing difficulties.

Instruction to complete repairs within a week

During the inspection, the DM expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of road repairs and reprimanded the concerned executing agency and contractor. The Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department has been instructed to repair the damaged roads and fix the sewer chambers within a week.

The administration has emphasized not only on the superficial repair of the roads but also on maintaining the quality of the work.

Goal to make roads pothole-free by October 15

The DM has instructed the officials of the Public Works Department and the National Highways to make all damaged roads pothole-free by October 15, 2026. This means that in the coming days, the responsibility for accelerating road repair work in these areas will lie with the concerned departments.

Water supply and electricity arrangements also under scrutiny

During the sewage work, not only the roads were affected. Reports have also emerged of damaged or disrupted drinking water lines in some areas. The DM has directed the officials of the water institution to identify such lines and repair them within a week.

Meanwhile, the electricity department has been instructed to fix the electrical boxes along the roadside and to address disorganized or damaged wires, as well as to remove unauthorized hoardings, posters, and banners from the electric poles.

Instructions to improve cleanliness and drainage arrangements

During the inspection, the municipal corporation was also asked to improve the cleanliness arrangements in the area. Special attention has been directed towards regular cleaning along the roads and the drainage system.

The administration states that considering the influx of pilgrims in the Bhupatwala and Saptasarovar areas, better coordination among departments regarding road, sewage, drinking water, electricity, and cleanliness-related works is essential.

Now it remains to be seen how quickly the situation changes on the ground

After the DM's instructions, the biggest question now is how quickly the roads will be repaired within the stipulated timeframe. Currently, the administration has set a goal to complete primary repair work within a week and make the damaged roads pothole-free by October 15.

The coming days are significant for local residents and vehicle drivers who pass through this route daily, as a real change in the condition of the roads is expected following the directives.
