Corrections Policy

How we put mistakes right — openly, with the date, beneath the story.

Last updated: 20 September 2026

We Do Not Edit Quietly

Any factual error — a name, a number, a date, a place or a quote — is corrected and recorded in a Correction box beneath the story, with the date, stating what changed and why.

Types of Correction

  • Correction — a factual error was fixed; a public note appears beneath the story.
  • Clarification — the facts were right but the point could read as incomplete or misleading; further context was added.
  • Update — new information arrived after publication; the time of the update is recorded.
  • Minor spelling or grammatical errors may be fixed without a note, provided the meaning does not change.

Taking a Story Down

A story is taken down only if it is legally untenable, puts someone’s safety at risk, or its very basis is proved wrong. The reason for removal is left as a note at the same address.

How to Request a Correction

Send us the link to the story, what is wrong and evidence of the correct information (if any) through the contact page. We aim to respond within 48 hours. For a formal complaint, the grievance redressal process is available, under which every complaint is settled within 15 days.
