He was welcomed at various places from Haridwar Rural to Laksar and Khanpur, where he also addressed issues related to farmers, unemployment, inflation, and electricity.
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat launched the Thank You and Public Dialogue Yatra from Haridwar on Thursday, October 1. During the yatra, Congress workers and supporters welcomed him at various locations. The yatra, which began from Singh Dwar, reached the Khanpur area via Haridwar Rural and Laksar.
During the yatra, workers welcomed Rawat with flower garlands and fireworks at several places. A large number of supporters and party workers were present in his convoy. A vehicle displayed a poster reading ‘Tiger Is Back’, which Rawat described as a sign of respect expressed by his supporters.
Message of Dialogue with the Public and Listening to Issues
Harish Rawat stated that the purpose of the yatra is to engage in direct dialogue with the people and understand their problems and suggestions. According to him, the suggestions received from the public will be used in the direction of including them in the party's vision document in the future.
During a conversation with the media in Laksar, he also mentioned issues related to farmers, unemployment, inflation, and electricity. He noted that during discussions with farmers, problems such as delays in sugarcane payments, damage to paddy crops, and high electricity bills were raised.
Questions Regarding the 2027 Elections
During the yatra, Harish Rawat was also asked about contesting in the upcoming assembly elections. In Laksar, he stated that if the party leadership asks him to contest, he will do so. He also emphasized strengthening the party and activating the organization at the booth level.
Enthusiasm Among Congress Workers
The yatra saw participation from local Congress officials, workers, and leaders from various sectors. In the Haridwar Rural area, MLA Anupama Rawat also welcomed the yatra along with her supporters and participated in it.
During the yatra, Harish Rawat spoke about the need for change in Uttarakhand. He also made political allegations against the BJP government at the center and the state on various issues. These allegations are part of Rawat's political statements; the response from the concerned parties should be viewed separately.
The Thank You and Public Dialogue Yatra was scheduled to continue until the Khanpur assembly constituency. The active participation of Congress workers and scenes of Rawat's welcome were prominent during the yatra on October 1 in Haridwar district.
